Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1992 (now non-practising) and then moved into the Insurance industry where he specialised in legal expenses insurance products. 

 

His work has involved new and start-up businesses as well as running-off accounts and working with established insurers and brokers. 

 

In 2006 Ian was recruited to head up the ATE Department at FirstAssist where he was involved with the Department’s high value commercial litigation risks including many of the first competition cases to use ATE.  

 

Ian was well-known as an ATE underwriter but in 2020 moved into broking ATE working for a substantial broker operating in that sector. Following that role Ian’s previous position was with one of the UK’s largest brokers wherein his remit included the spectrum of litigation and arbitration insurance products. 

 

Ian brings the benefit of having worked for a number of insurers and brokers to this role giving him a unique insight into the operation of the market as a whole.
